What Your Handwriting Says About You

Larry Yu December 21, 2015

Handwriting is as unique as our fingerprints; no two are ever the same. How you dot your i’s and cross your t’s may convey a lot more about you than you realise. Recent research indicates our writing can reveal more than 5,000 personality traits. The shapes of letters, spacing between words and even writing pressure all reflect different aspects of our characters. Today, handwriting analysis can be used for understanding health, solving criminal investigations and even screening employee compatibility. Curious to know what secrets your penmanship is leaking?

Backed by Science

Graphology is the scientific term for the study of handwriting and has been around since the days of Aristotle. Time and time again, research has proven links between writing and personality.

Are Graphologists psychic?

Just because graphologists can read through your writing doesn’t mean they can read your mind – although analysis becomes personal very quickly. After just a few minutes of looking at strangers’ handwriting, trained analysts can identify the writer’s level of intelligence, emotional stability, aptitudes and talents, leadership qualities, honesty level, work performance and physical activity level.

It Isn’t Handwriting, It’s “Brainwriting”

As soon as we put our pens to paper we are actually leaving “brain prints”. Every neurological pattern corresponds to a neuro-muscular pattern, meaning that you really are what you write! Research indicates that people who have taught themselves to write with their opposite hands, toes or mouth will emulate their original writing style, demonstrating that writing isn’t controlled by our extremities – it’s controlled by our brains.

Want to learn what your handwriting says about you? Try writing out this sentence: "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog." Then read on, and all will be revealed…
